[With Video] Brownies Unlimited Is Back In SM Makati With Its Flagship Store

Growing up, we have a Sunday routine as a family. Clean the house, Lunch at lola’s house, attend mass and then go to SM Makati. I remember buying Brownies Unlimited every Sunday. Brownies Unlimited first opened as a corner counter in SM Makati in 1988. The next year, 1989, I started going to school so it is my usual baon at school, teacher’s day gift, baon for field trip or simple merienda at home. This is my dad’s favorite so it has become mine too. You see, I am an only child and I am very close to my parents.

Over the years, Brownies Unlimited continued to be part of my family. When I had Addy, this was his first taste of brownies. We all love the Walnut Swirl, Rocky Road and Choc O’ Chips. Since Addy was most of the time under the care of my dad, this became his favorite too.

Brownies Unlimited Opens Their First Flagship Branch

Brownies Unlimited first opened as a corner counter in SM Makati in 1988. They’ve sold delectable brownies while keeping the quality of the ingredients and processes—all while keeping prices affordable! Today, they continue to grow with more branches and have opened their doors to franchising.

The perfect paradise for brownie lovers has finally come! All your favorite brownies and new exciting treats from Brownies Unlimited is now available at their first ever flagship store in SM Makati.

This month, Brownies Unlimited opens their flagship store located at the 2nd floor of SM Makati, where mommies and their kids have come to get a first look at their new products. My kids are so happy about this news especially Kuya Addy who’s class started this August as well.

What’s New With Brownies Unlimited Makati

Don’t miss out on the Brownie Pizza that comes in S’mores and Cosmic flavors, and the better-than-ever Brownies Unlimited ice cream made with real and natural ingredients. I love their Strawberry Ice Cream! Yes, they now serve ice creams! I think SM Makati and Moa Branches are the only store who’s offering it at the moment. Learn more about Scoopery in our video at the end of this blog.

Can’t get enough? Make sure to try the tasty Toasted Marshmallow, a delectable ice cream with toasted marshmallow on top, and the Molten Brownie, a freshly baked brownie topped with your favorite ice cream.

For mommies planning their kid’s parties, look no further and have Brownies Unlimited make any event super special by having their Dessert Table and a Make Your Own Brownie Pizza station. Arriana love their cupcakes. I am so excited to have this in my kids upcoming birthdays for next year! It will surely be afun treat on your events may it be fr baptism, baby shower, bridal shower, debut or even your kids parties.

Amanda's Unicorn Themed Baptism and First Birthday [ Part 1 Suppliers]

Disclaimer: This is a long overdue post

Last April, we celebrated Amanda’s first birthday with immediate family and friends. Ironic that we do planning and styling events as a business, but our family and friends know that we do simple and intimate celebrations for our kids. So this post is best for those who wants to DIY (Do it yourself) your child’s intimate party. I will be sharing some tips here so read through guys!

Church: Holy Family Parish

This is on the right side of the church on the second floor. We love this area because it has an artificial grass and the kids loves to run around.

This is on the right side of the church on the second floor. We love this area because it has an artificial grass and the kids loves to run around.

Address: 2777 Faraday St. Makati

Telephone Number: 392 86 17

  • Baptismal certificate with registry number or PSA copy

  • Marriage certificate for married parents. If not married, do not worry, they will still accommodate you but of course, they will ask if you have plans of getting married in the future

  • If you are not from San Isidro, you need to get an authorization letter from your Parish. In our case, we get one from San Ildefonso Parish.

Fee: DONATION ONLY. Yes, it is up to you how much are you giving the church. Like what their Parish priest says, Sacraments are free. But with this, you have to provide your own candles. The church will only cover the sacrament, priest, sound system and electricity.

Parking: There is a parking space! yehey! plus points talaga. Mass is at 10am. Everyone is encourage to attend the mass. Right after, Baptismal na agad.

Seminar: There is a short seminar less than 30 minutes. So for us, very convenient talaga. Some church requires a separare seminar date.

Overall: We love this church because it also near my mom’s place. The parish priest is very kind, considerate, caring. This is also where Arriana had her baptismal. There is a nice mini garden too. They also have a function room good for 200 guest. We did not book here because the venue is to big for us.

Tip: Check your local Parish if medyo budgeted tayo. some popular churches charge 3,000 to 8,000 for a baptismal. Like in Holy Family, 2 babies lang naman ang bininyagan.

Venue: The Columns Makati

Thank you Mama Eva for endorsing us.

Address: 6821 Ayala Avenue Makati

Fee: I like this venue because it is affordable. PHP 1,000 pesos per hour is not bad especially within Makati Area. So we booked 4 hours. 11am to 3pm. It comes with 2 hours ingress. They will turn on the AC at 11am. Though I expect the guest to arrive at 12 - 12:30 since our baptismal is at 11, okay lang, para malamig na since glass sides siya, and mainit pag tanghali. Overall, the price is still affordable. paid 4k for 8 hours in total including ingress and egress.

Parking: Guest can park in Alphaland which is just across. This location is very easy to go to and locate as well.

Cons: It needs an endorsement from a home owner. Thanks to Mama Eva from Feast Makati for loving our family always.

Overall: Overall, we love Columns Makati! Their staff and guards are very nice. We left a guest list in the lobby. This is a requirement, of course, for security purposes. There is also a playground on the same floor, so bigger kids like Kuya Addy and his classmates went there to play.

Caterer: Beyond The Plate

Email: beyondtheplateph@gmail.com

FB: https://www.facebook.com/beyondtheplateph/

We’ve used several caterers from our past events but we want to keep on exploring other options too. JB’s good friends, Wale and Crisel has a catering business so it was a perfect time for us to try their food. Their package starts at PHP 280/head for lunch and dinner. You may also customized which viand do you like. They have a list of what can you choose from for PHP 280/ head but here is their signature buffet option:

Signature buffet

280/head (plus 10% service charge & 12% vat)

Cream of Mushroom Soup

Baby Potatoes in Herbed Garlic Sauce

Herb Crusted Fish Fillet with Mango Salsa

Chicken Florentine

Korean Pork Stew

Spaghetti with Spicy Oriental Sauce

Fruit Salad

Steamed Rice

1 Round of Iced Tea

We ended up with the following menu:

Cream of Mushroom

Baby Potatoes

Chicken Florentine

Fish fillet with Mango Salsa

Korean Pork Ribs

Pasta Bolognese

Coffee jelly

Steamed Rice

1 round of Iced tea

Infused Water

Chicken Tenders with honey mustard sauce

Baked macaroni

French fries

Double chocolate bar

Orange juice

Everything was a hit. Everyone loved our food. Kids food comes in bento box. The adults loved the kids menu as well.

Here is their set up which we really like. The table centerpieces are from Beyond The Plate. So that is one expense less of my list. Perfect for those who will DIY kasi you will only use it once, so no additional cost for it na.

Tip: Best to always look for a caterer who has a nice centerpiece na. Ask also if you can switch or choose a different viand than what they have as a set. Like Beyond The Plate they have several choices for chicken, beef, pork in the PHP 280/head category.

Photographer: Jay Carlo Photography

FB: Jay Carlo Olaguer Photography

Jay is one of our co-servant in the Feast. For our intimate gatherings, We try to get in our community. We were so thankful that Jay was available at that time because he normally serves even Sunday.

Fee: Rates vary depending on your requirement. Some needs album, printed copies etc. I just need Raw Files and Edited on CD plus coverage. I booked Jay for 3,500 pesos. Not bad at all.

Tip: Check you friends and other contacts. You might have a friend who is starting a photography business and it is nice to help him or her build also her portfolio.

Give Aways for Ninongs and Ninangs: Goodie Bag with Vpharma products and aromatherapy candle.

Because I am all for useful stuff, I want to make sure that my goodie bag for the second parents of Amanda is useful. Something that they will be happy to receive. There are endless options out there especially tthe personalized ones so I want to be extra unique.

  • Pink paper Bag from SM Stationary is at 180 pesos per bundle of 20pcs. This comes in blue, pink and brown color.

  • Sea Salt Aromatherapy Candle at 45 per piece - Since wala candle na kasama sa church, we used this for the baptismal candle na. I know uso yung personalized candles but after kasi, can’t use it na. I was looking for a candle na nasa glass container but wala ako nakita na simple one on my budget. Upon giving their goodie bag sa church, ang happy naman ng sponsors to see the candle. Lakas maka Titos and Titas of Manila, It comes with a ribbon na talaga by the way.

  • Mega Ampalaya from Vpharma because #HealthisForEveryFamily and we really love and use this product, I want to share it to Amanda’s second parents. This has a lot of benefits kasi. Not just for sugar control but also for cholesterol and even for skin care. This is PHP 360 per box of 30 pieces.

  • Mega Mangosteen from Vpharma This is one product that gives me #momsanitysaver. It is a good anti oxidant and energy booster. Sine I always get the question, “Ley how ddo you guys do it with 3 kids and no yaya?” This product is one of those brands that really helped our family a lot. This is PHP 550 per box of 30 pieces.

If you are interested to buy Vpharma products, here are your options:

  1. You may go to their website at www.vpharma.ph and then once you reached 3k minimum purchase, you can use my code LEYLOVESVPHARMA for a one time 500 pesos discount.

  2. On your next purchase, you can buy from me and get the same discount.

Tip: check also what can you give that will be beneficial for them. So We wanted to give health as a gift because they will stand as Amand’s second parent, kaya dapat live a long and healthy life.

Give Aways for Kids: Art Kit

We don’t do programs on First birthdays. Weird diba? But our main reason for this is, we want kasi the program to be something that our celebrant would really like. So in case of Amanda, we do not know yet. Normally, we have more specific programs on their second and seventh birthday. That’s the time also na mas na appreciate na nila yung party. So with Amanda, I bought art kit from SM lang. Placed it on top of the table for each kid. They can either use it there or use it at home na. It is so nice because for PHP 150 pesos it come with:

  • crayons

  • color pencil

  • color pens

  • half size sketch pad

  • It comes with a plastic pouch

Tip: Explore SM ( This is not a sponsored post from SM) but minsan kasi they also have affordable items. For a mom of 3 kids like me, it is very challenging to go to Divisoria. I can try Shopee or Lazada but you know, it give me the satisfying feeling if I can see the products first before ebuying it. Mind you, it took us 1 hour before I finally purchased this.

[With Video] A Great Way To Use Gcash App To Help The Environment: GCash Forest eyes 365 thousand trees planted In 365 days

Filipinos who want to contribute to environmental preservation can now conveniently use an innovative mobile phone app to help plant trees and increase the Philippines’ forest cover.

Leading mobile wallet, GCash, Is introducing an exciting ”green” feature on the app called GCash Forest, which lets subscribers plant virtual trees that will have real-Iife counterparts. By the end of 365 days, GCash Forest aims to plant 365 thousand trees with the help of GCash subscribers.

According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Forest Management Bureau (FMB), the Philippines is losing 47,000 hectares of forest cover every year. The FMB also reported the need to rehabilitate 1.2 million hectares of forest lands by 2022 to prevent landslides, ensure water availability, and preserve biodiversity.

“GCash Forest is about making it easier, more convenient, and even rewarding for everyone to take care of our environment for the benefit of future generations,” said Mynt CEO Anthony Thomas. ”GCash is no longer just providing an excellent platform for accessible financial products and services but also enabling Filipinos to be more active in responding to real-life issues, such as climate change mitigation through reforestation. "

GCash considers GCash Forest as a last mile initiative that fully recognizes the emergence of an all-digital Filipino lifestyle.

To implement its tree-planting initiatives, GCash Forest partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and The Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN). The DENR will provide land resources in lpo Watershed, an essential component of the Angat-Umiray-Ipo watersheds system supplying 98 percent of Metro Manila's water. WWF will be providing trees and manpower while BIOFIN will provide expertise on monitoring.

Thomas added that recent findings on the Philippines’ vulnerability to climate-related hazards call for greater collective action. Results of the Global Peace Index 2019 identified the Philippines as the most susceptible country to the adverse effects of climate change. By leveraging the GCash platform and scale, GCash Forest aims to rally a coalition of individuals, non-government organizations, and international organizations to meet its 2020 targets.

To plant trees through GCash Forest, GCash users need to collect ”green energy" by frequently using the app. Users who get enough green energy can choose which species of trees they want to plant in a selected area at the lpo watershed. Once the trees are physically planted, users get to receive a certificate of ownership with a serial number, fun facts and updates on the growth of their trees on their GCash apps. ”Many Filipinos, especially the younger ones, care about the environment but a lot of them don’t know how they can actively take part in environmental protection. This is a barrier that GCash Forest addresses because they only need to use their smartphones-an already integral part of their daily lives-to make a difference,” concluded Thomas.

The new feature is inspired by Alipay Ant Forest, a product operates by Ant Financial, an Alibaba affiliate n e parent company of the world’s leading payments and lifestyle platform, Alipay. Via the mobile platform, more than 500 million users have planted 100 million real trees and advanced a shared vision of sustainable and inclusive development.

“The GCash Forest shows digital technology holds a huge power to mobilize people in support of sustainable development and the fight against climate change. And this power goes beyond border and is at our fingertips through our mobile devices,” said Yan Meng, Ant Financial’s Global Head of International Partnerships. “We’re more than happy to open up our technology and expertise to current and potential partners to make the world a better place.”

Merries Baby Diapers From Japan Is Now Here In The Philippines - Always Gentle To Your Baby's Skin

My kids are always up and about, ready to discover new things as they grow each day, especially Amanda who turned one last April. It is important to keep her as comfortable and as happy as possible during her daily schedule. This will ensure maximized bonding between parents and siblings. I am so happy to have a chance to try Merries diapers for Amanda. I’ve seen some wonderful comments about this brand plus the fact that it comes from Japan.

Comfortable For Play

I always believe that our kids learn through play. As a homeschool mom, we do not want to limit our kids thus we want them to explore their own imagination. Play is a daily part, a big part at that, of my kid’s life. The little ones are always in diapers up to the time they start potty training. Arriana turned three last March and still not fully potty train. This is why discerning moms are out to find diapers that don’t just function; they should also prevent the number one reason for discomfort. Babies and toddlers’ sensitive skin are prone to irritation, rashes, and redness caused by heat and moisture trapped by the diaper. When there is irritation, rashes or redness, kids experience discomfort leading them to tantrums. Oh, that is not a good sign.

What the Merries® diaper brand values most is for babies and toddlers to stay in their diapers comfortably and smile 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This promise to provide a high performance product allows mommies and babies to spend time together without any stress. The good news is that Filipina mommies won’t have to look far as Merries® is now available in the Philippines.

Happy Babies With Merries®

Parents will always consider comfort, absorption, quality, price, and availability when searching for a good diaper brand. Merries® has taken this into consideration and became the #1 diaper brand recommended by Japan moms because of its premium quality.

High Quality Materials

Babies’ skin is very sensitive so it’s important that diapers fit snugly and are gentle on the skin. With the success of the diapers’ comfy and snug fit, Merries® was given a Good Design award in Japan for their efforts.

The brand offers two types of diapers for babies. The Merries® Tape Type comes in Newborn to large sizes, while the Merries® Pants Type comes in Medium to XXL sizes. Both variants use soft, fluffy, and breathable materials to keep the baby’s skin dry and minimize friction.

A Highly Absorbent, Breathable, and Comfortable Diaper

Merries® diapers have polymer for maximum absorption even under pressure and prevents leakage.  Parents will know when to change the diaper thanks to the wetness indicators in the diapers’ design. A non-woven and elastic leg garter and 3D Side Garters not only provide a snug fit, it also stops the leakage and prevents heat from being trapped inside the diaper.

Tape type has a “Light Airy Wavy Mesh” for its inner surface, that allows moisture to pass through the space between the skin and the surface sheet. The concave of the mesh sheet catches soft feces to prevent dispersion.

It also provides minimal contact with the baby’s skin. Pants type is equipped with “Airy Waist Channels” that drives away the heat and moisture inside the diaper. This means there is long lasting dryness and comfort that prevents irritations.

A non-woven and elastic leg garter and 3D Side Garters not only provide a snug fit, it also stops the leakage and prevents heat from being trapped inside the diaper . Thanks to the excellent absorbency and the exceptional breath-ability of the diaper it can minimize discomfort and prevent babies from getting diaper rashes when they wear it overnight or over long periods.

The Best Choice For Mommies

For mommies, the comfort of her baby is put above all else. Which is why they search for the best products in the market to ensure their babies’ comfort and needs. Merries® has solved this issue thanks to their high quality diapers that provide comfort and can absorb greatly. There is value for money because the diaper’s premium quality won’t require as many diaper changes.

Fussy babies and skin rashes are a thing of the past thanks to the quality the Merries® brand provides. The highly absorbent, comfortable, and gentle to skin diaper is perfect for babies and their mommies too. With worries put aside, there is now more time to bond, play, and make fun memories together. Happier babies, Happier mommies.

Here are the things that I like most about this brand.

  • Their logo is shaped like a cradle, rocking baby blissfully to sleep. It is also shaped like a heart, expressing the parents' love for their child.

  • A serial number is printed on all products so individual product information can be traced even after shipment. We believe that product responsibility continues even after product delivery.

  • Since the birth of the Merries brand in 1983 through today, they have continued to pursue gentle on the skin and high quality products – all for the sake of that smile.

  • It has a wetness indicator that actually works. I mean, It really turns from yellow to blue. It doesn’t turn blue when it is full, onece there’s a pee or moisture, it changes colors already.

  • I am all for GENTLENESS. If you have been reading my blog, or following me in my facebook page and instagram, I support products and brands who are all in for being gentle with our babies.

  • I like how this is the ONLY pants diaper that I KNOW OF ( comment down below if there are other brands who has this that I am not aware of ) who has a tape that you can use to throw soiled diaper. This is one of the first consideration that we look into before. But I can not find any diaper who has it. So we ended up always bringing small brown bag to put the soil diapers. We put the soiled diapers into the bag before throwing it. No need for that extra small bag cost. Dispose the soiled diaper by rolling it up as tightly as possible and seal firmly with the tape on the back before throwing it away. Galing diba!

It comes with a built in seal tape

It comes with a built in seal tape

  • We LOVE the Merries bunnies! They are so cute! Amanda loves her bunny. To know more about them, you may watch this video below. Arriana and Amanda loves to watch this video before they go to sleep.

Merries is available in Rustan’s Supermarket and Lazada.

Feast Makati and Taguig Outreach build its second Prayground at Pio Del Pilar Barangay Hall

The Feast Makati and Taguig Outreach Ministry has been doing several initiatives from medical mission, feeding program, gift giving, tree planting, blood letting drives, gawad kalinga build and more. Many of you will know how special this ministry is to me. I've been here since 2010. This is also where I met my husband JB.

This year the ministry will be focusing on building Praygrounds within Makati and Taguig.

What is a Prayground?

Prayground targets to address the spiritual well-being of the children in a selected area while having fun at the same time.

A prayground in a selected community in Makati and Taguig shall be built  by volunteers to enable kids to be  introduced exemplary living bible  heroes. It  shall feature lessons as well as  verses in the bible. Long term, it can also be  a venue for character building outreaches.

Our Vision

  • To build 100 praygrounds within Makati and Taguig through Play & Worship.

  • To be a channel of God’s grace, mercy and love to the unchurched and bring them to Feast Makati - Taguig.

Our Mission

  • To provide an intentional sanctuary where young individuals can experience worship through age-appropriate play and worship materials and tools that will help them know more about Jesus.

  • To encourage people to become a blessing to others by giving their time, talent and treasure.

  • To have a partnership with schools and community leaders.

On June 8, 2019, which is also the eve of Pentecost we gather for a two-fold celebration: the birthday of the Church and the blessing of our second (2/100) Prayground at Pio Del Pilar Barangay Hall.

In communication with Kapitana Hazel Ann "Popcorn" Lacia with the help of Kagawad Verong Umandap, we were able to enhanced their one corner play area which the Barangay hall volunteers take advantage of when they need to bring their kids with them. Now, more kids from Barangay Pio Del Pilar will benefit and enjoy the facility.

Pentecost is not "just another Sunday," but the second culmination, the highfeast that concludes the Easter celebration. Pentecost, Greek for “50th day,” was originally a Jewish term referring to the 50th day after Passover. For the first Christians, it was the 49th day after Easter, and, counting Easter, a period of 50 days.

The Acts of the Apostles (2:1-4), refers to Pentecost as the day when the apostles were gathered in the upper room “and suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind. … Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire. … And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Pentecost was the decisive event in the early history of the church, an assurance to the apostles and other disciples that the risen Jesus was fulfilling his promise to send the Holy Spirit to them. Just like how the apostles spread the good news about Jesus, We want our praygrounds to be the youth's pathway back to Jesus. These praygrounds will be testimonies to know that there is hope amidst their trials through other people.

We want a safe haven for our youth wherein pray and play can go together.

With these praygrounds, I know we will be able to promote the development of a barrier-free, bias-free world for all children. We hope that with these praygrounds, we will be able to create social interaction for children with all abilities through enabling praygrounds and sustainable programs designed for them.

I shared all this to Fr Rey of Society of St Paul who graces us with his presence as he bless the prayground. He was delighted to know that we are doing this for our community. Very timely because the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has announced that it will dedicate 2019 as the "Year of the Youth. This year’s theme is "Filipino Youth in Mission: Beloved, Gifted, Empowered."

The Goals of the Year of the Youth

Goal 1: Youth in Formation

An evangelized youth conscious of his/ her giftedness, transformed by a personal encounter with Christ, and growing and maturing through youthful formation and activities.

Goal 2: Youth in the Community, Church and Society

A family-oriented youth whose image of oneself is patterned after the life of Jesus, and who is actively involved in the life of the Church and society through his/ her vocation, profession and stage in life.

Goal 3: Youth in Mission

A youth inspired by the church’s missionary spirit, who, like the Blessed Virgin Mary, courageously shares Christ’s message of joy and hope to people in difficult situations, rekindles the faith of those who drifted from the Church, and promotes dialogue with other faiths.

Goal 4: Youth Ministry and Youth Ministers

A preferential ministry for the young animated by youth ministers who are filled with the spirit of the new evangelization and equipped with pastoral skills and resources, ably responding to youth issues.

Those 4 goals are aligned as well with our Prayground’s vision - mission. Another grace filled observation, flowers are used to decorate churches on this feast. If you can see, God really do his wonders because coincidentally, Our mural designs are all florals. Thematically in time for the Pentecost.

The descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples is indeed the origin, the “birthday,” of the church.

Pentecost is the festival when Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is regarded as the birthday of the Christian church. Just like the apostles, it was an assurance and reminder for us that Jesus was fulfilling his promise to send the Holy Spirit to us. We were filled with the Holy Spirit today. Today also serves as the birthday of our second prayground.

We hope you can join us in our upcoming builds. If you have books, old toys or furnitures that you want to donate. Or if you want to volunteer and serve with your time and talent, please feel free to send me an email at leyalmeda@gmail.com or praygroundfmt@gmail.com

Our New Diaper Discovery: QPants

As a yayaless mom of three on the go kids, I am always on the look out for affordable yet quality products for them. I am lucky that Arriana hardly had diaper rashes but with Amanda, I had to be very careful with her diapers. Diapers should be safe, comfortable, fits well and absorbs well.

How do we choose a diaper?

Because it is in direct contact on the skin, diapers should be gentle on the skin but because it is a diaper it is expected to be strong and durable as well. So we want a diaper that is soft but also leak proof so it should have an absorbent core.

Of course, we want it affordable or wallet friendly. I used cloth diapers with Arriana before but having three kids already will make it challenging for me. Plus our laundry area doesn't have enough space for drying racks.

I want a diaper that has round stretchy waist garter. Arriana and Amanda are both active. Whether they are crawling, jumping, rolling over I don't like refastening the tape constantly. So we normally use pants diaper so baby can move freely without constraints. I like a stretchy diaper so changing them from one diaper to another is such a breeze.

As baby grows, so does the amount of pee. Just like Arriana, she just turned 3 last March yet we are still unsuccessful in potty training her. Once baby becomes active, they sweat a lot. Amanda turned 1 last April and she has been practicing to walk lately. Plus, our weather makes them sweat more. Sweat makes it moist and stuffy inside the diaper so we like a diaper that is breathable; must be able to breathe to  expel moisture and stuffiness that often leads to diaper rash. So imagine pee and sweat combined, a no no.

I want a diaper who can hold and absorb loose poo. Amanda is weaning to solids and often than not her very loose poo spreads easily across her skin. This can be one cause of diaper rash too.

I want a diaper who uses wholesome diaper material. It should be helpful to baby's gentle skin and to the environment.

So, I recently discovered QPants diaper. Positioned to provide the right balance of quality and cost, QPants baby diapers (pants) is relatively new and "unknown" to the Philippine market except for Metro Manila, North and South Luzon, particularly in the areas of Laguna. The brand also is growing in terms of distribution in the said areas.

Qpants diaper is at par with industry leaders and is comparable with other popular brands. It has the capacity to absorb urine for normal time use of 4-6 hours.

What I like most about it is the cloth-like back sheet protecting my girls skin. The cloth-like backsheet releases moisture to keep the baby's skin cool and dry. It has also a stretchy waistband which makes it easy to wear. It auto-adjust to best fit body shape so no need to worry with red marks on my girl's skin. It has an absorbency core that helps evenly disperse and lock liquid inside you it is leak free. It is available in the following sizes:

Small: 3-7 kgs

Medium: 6-11kgs

Large: 9-14kgs

XL: 12-17kgs

XXL: 15-25 kgs

I like how Arriana and Amanda belongs to the same size bracket already. With other brands, I had to get two different sizes which make it more costly for us.

The Newest Jollibee Party Theme for 2019 Is Here! Jollitown Theme Park Party Theme

Arriana and Amanda can not enjoy going to the theme parks yet because of age and height requirements in each ride that's why we are grateful that Jollibee invited us together with other media friends, bloggers and influencers and their children to the official launch of the Jollitown Theme Park party last April 27, 2019 at Jollibee Biopolis Macapagal, Pasay City. Jollitown Theme Park is the latest addition to Jollibee's growing line-up of fun Kiddie Party themes.

My family and friends know how much my children loves Jollibee. You can never go wrong with a Jollibee party because it has various fun kiddie party themes that will surely make each celebration memorable and special.

We were welcomed with a nice arc that says, Jollitown Theme Park, just like in any other theme parks, we need to have a family photo here. So sad that Kuya Addy wasn't able to join us.

Each corner of the Jollitown Theme Park party was filled with classic theme park activities. Arriana loves the lego station.

There is a face paint station wherein you can be whoever you want to be.

Of course, Arriana decided to be Wonder Woman! Very timely! She was so happy with her facepaint. This is actually her first time and she was very behaved during the process.

There is an interactive photobooth to that looks like you are riding a train with Jollibee.

The main event area was properly dressed up to match the theme. I am excited to know the new song and dance for this new kiddie party theme. Jollibee is known to have a very interactive and entertaining program. Their songs and dance numbers are really something to watch out for.

Of course, Jollibee was present and we made sure we had a photo with him. We took turns and this was the result. Too bad, Amanda fell asleep.

Ate Arriana was so kilig!

one of the best thing about this latest addition is that all five characters will be there to celebrate with you! Arriana was so happy to see Twirly and Hetty for the first time. It was nicer if she brought her Twirly and Hetty toys.

What made this theme unique also are the games. You will not play the usual bring me game. New interactive games are as follows:

Jollitown Tower

Hetty's Color Match

Arriana joined this game, look! I am so proud of her!

She did not win but she has a consolation prize. And the last game is my favorite. It is called, Popo's PowerBall. I wasn't able to take a photo but I have a video clip below. After all the exhilarating activities at the Jollitown Theme Park, everyone enjoyed the yummy feast of our all time favorites; Chicken with spaghetti, Yum Burger, Sundae and drinks. Everyone was eating while enjoying a special performance from Jollibee and his friends.

Of course, the cake should match the theme. We had a candle blowing ceremony for all April celebrants. Since Amanda was sleeping already, Ate Arriana was her proxy.

The kids went home with loot bags full of goodies and memories of an awesome day in Jollitown Theme Park. It was indeed a jolliest day for all of us. Like what Ms Malot Agustin, Jollibee Brand Manager for Kids Marketing said, "For most kids, visiting a theme park is definitely one of the most exciting and memorable experiences and we want to bring this joyful experience to our Jollibee Kids Party. We imagine Jollitown Theme Park to be the most fun destination for kids and this newest theme offering would definitely give the most unforgettable birthday which kids can only get from the jolliest  place closest to their hearts, Jollibee"

Give your kids the jolliest birthday by choosing among JolliRace, Jollibee Fairytale Land, Hello Kitty FunCarnival and now, the Jollitown Theme Park. The Jollibee Kids Party is available for both in-store and outside parties and has a Create-Your-Own-Package that gives us parents that option to customize our food packages. Check out your nearest Jollibee Party store for more details.

Thank you Jollibee team for a jolliest morning!

See below for some highlights.

Holy Week: Good Friday 2019

Yesterday, we went to Angeles to visit my dad. We arrived Holy Mary around 2:30pm cause we had to pass by to my lola's house at Villa Angela to get the keys. Around 4pm, we left the cemetery and went to Guagua for the Good Friday procession. Our family has been doing this tradition since my great great grandfather Don Martin Gonzales, former city mayor. It was handed down to my lolos and then to my dad. I remember walking for hours when it was Lolo Loi's turn. Soon, my dad took over because Lolo Loi got sick. It's my first time to come back after my dad's passed away. His last Good Friday was 2015 and he died that year. After 15 years of devotion, it was then passed on to Danikka.

So after 4 years, we finally went to Guagua again. It feels different not being with dad since this is our first time to go back without him. The last time that we were here, he was with us. I wanted to remind Addy this tradition while I want to introduce it to Arriana and Amanda. We arrived early. As soon as Arriana saw the church, she asked me if we can go inside and so we did.

Parked in front of the plaza. You can see the church and the city hall

Parked in front of the plaza. You can see the church and the city hall

We arrived while the mass is on going. The mass was in Kapampanggan so Arriana was a little confused with the dialect and asked me what were they saying. Soon, my cousins Danikka, Valerie, Anton and Justin arrived with Tita Vic.

After the mass, we went to the altar to kiss Jesus. Then we waited for the time that Danikka needs to change.

My Dad's I.D

My Dad's I.D

I asked Danikka if she was able to get her own i.d. She said she is still using my dad's.

Arriana was so happy to see the procession because of the lights and flowers.

Danikka and Valerie

Danikka and Valerie

My cousin Danikka has been doing this since 2016. She is wearing the original main cloth still. I think my Dad just changed the whites but the black and gray (main dress) is the original one still.

This is what they are pulling. Jesus lying down. This one is so beautiful in person. It was nice to be back and remember my dad at the same time. I told my mom that we should start doing a new tradition, that is visiting dad on Good Friday before heading to Guagua. I am sure, my Dad would love us to be there for the procession just like before.

While on NLEX,on our way back to Manila, JB suddenly said that the van is losing power. He stopped on the emergency bay. Check what happened and saw that the radiator hose is not hook anymore. The clamp is not there anymore. After 10mins, an NLEX patrol stopped and asked what happened. I video call my Uncle Toto who is in Canada because he is a mechanic. After a while, we decided to tow the van.

God is really good. You may ask why despite this circumstances.

1. When JB said that the van is losing power we are on the right side and there is the emergency bay. If it happened earlier, it will be dangerous because of the narrow road.

2. We did not call the NLEX patrol! They just saw us and stopped.

3. The towing is free. Will explain in a while.

4. The tow truck is right across us! We did not wait too long.  Arriana and Amanda were sleeping already.

5. The Towing is free but here is the catch, it is until the nearest exit only. Guess what's the nearest exit? PULILAN! My mom's hometown. I don't know what will happen to us if its not Pulilan.

6. While we were on the way to Pulilan, we saw 4more cars that needs to be tow. Nauna kami. Super grateful for that.

7. Tito Obet is awake and was able to assist us. We left the van at their vacant lot.

8. Our AAP card is expired BUT the office is in Pulilan and just walking distance from where we are.

9. My brother in law, Mike, picked us up.

God is good! We were able to go home safe.

Better, Faster, Stronger Day 2 (shooting drills)

I wasn’t able to take a video of the entire session because my 2 girls woke up late. So I do not have their drills video but I was able to capture their shooting drills!

If you know Addy, you know how shy he is. Today, My mom just dropped him off then we just followed 20 minutes before we were supposed to pick him up. But Addy wanted to stay! That’s a good sign. He normally doesnt want to be alone especially this is his second time only. Normally, he will wait for my husband or his uncle to play ball with him but never alone. I was so happy to know that Addy had fun. It is also nice to know that our coach sincerely cares for Addy. It resonates because Addy doesn't show any signs of nervousness. He is excited to go and he even wakes up early.

Here is a short clip of his training today.

Better, Faster, Stronger Day 1

Addy started his interest with basketball when he was five. My husband taught him the basics in our parking lot. They will practice shooting at Timezone. He never really had a formal training not until summer of last year. My husband's nephew, Enzo and Addy enrolled at Don Bosco Summer camp. During their graduation, Addy was asked if he wants to join the varsity team of DBTI. He was unsure at that time if we will be enrolling him at CSA or Don Bosco.

When we finally enrolled him to Don Bosco, he had another set of basketball camp with them and after the graduation he was advised to bring his practice gears the next school day. Since Aug last year, he trains with the varsity every MWF, 4PM to 6PM.

But we know that he needs to work double if he really wants to succeed. He never tried out for it so he missed the try out drills. He encountered challenges with team plays. He wants to have a one on one coach so he can catch up. At the same time, make his weekends worthwhile.

We found a new basketball court with gym facilities near our place especially my mom's. I immediately inquired last January but their schedule was full. We waited for a slot to open. Addy had his skill test two Thursdays ago. From there the coach arranged his training plan based on Addy’s skill.

Check out Addy's first day.

I think I need to have a decent editing app.

What Do We Need To Know About The 105 Days Expanded Maternity Leave? ( With Video )

It was a privilege to be part of an intimate discussion with Senator Rissa Hontiveros and other Mommy bloggers and influencers about the new Expanded Maternity Leave or RA 11210.

This is definitely a BIG WIN not just for us mothers but MOST of all for our BABIES. I am all for giving credit where it is due! Thank you Akbyan Party List Representative Tom Villarin and Senator Rissa Hontiveros for championing this law! After 26 years, this is a historic victory not just for women but most of all for babies! This law will truly empower women!

So what do we need to know about the 105 Days Expanded Maternity Leave?

📍 From 60 days for normal delivery and 78 days for caesarean delivery, maternity leave is now 105 days. It grants to all covered female workers in the government and the private sector, including the informal economy. With an option to extend for another 30 days without pay.

📍 If the female worker is a solo parent, as defined in the Solo Parent Act (R.A. No. 8972) she can have an additional 15 days of fully paid leave.

📍 The mother can transfer 7 days of her leave benefits to the father, extending the latter’s paid paternity leave to 14 days. ( Let’s wait for the IRR - Implementing rules and regulations for the technical details)

📍In the death, absence or incapacity of the father, the mother can choose to allocate up to 7 days of her maternity leave benefits to a relative within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or the current partner of the mother, as long as they share the same household.

📍Maternity leave shall be granted in every instance of pregnancy, miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy, regardless of frequency. Female workers who suffered a miscarriage or had to undergo an emergency termination of the pregnancy are allowed to have a 60-day maternity leave.

📍There’s a penalty for companies who will fail to comply. Also, we have an anti discrimination law so they can not not hire women just for this law. Besides, I personally think, they can afford to lose women in the work force.

📍Employers who fail or refuse to comply with the provision of the law may be subject to a fine of not less than P20,000.00 but not more than P200,000.00, and imprisonment of not less than 6 months and 1 day but not more than 12 years.

📍 For those who gave birth after March 8, 2019 you can still avail this. This is retroactive. The new law will take effect after fifteen (15) days from its publication in the Official Gazette (21 February 2019) or in a newspaper of general circulation. The implementing rules are expected to be issued within 60 days.

The Implementing Rules and Regulations or IRR is expected to come out this May.

Thank you as well to Atty Jaye Bekema for all your contributions and hardwork for #EML105days #RA11210

Thank you Maricel and Beng of The Parenting Emporium for hosting this discussion.  I would love to attend meaningful discussions like this!

Last January, ANC TV Show, Mukha shared a part of my life story. Honestly, I just watched it yesterday. Why? hmmm, because I was still overwhelmed by the messages that I received. At some point, another tv show wants to air a more lengthy and detailed story but I decline.

It was never easy being a single mom may it be a past or present. Yes even if it is in the past, people can still judge you and say not so nice words towards your experience. Despite of it all, I will never be ashamed of being a solo parent. I know my story will be an inspiration to others. I know many will find comfort knowing that there will always be hope.

So, for those who missed the episode, I posted a copy below. Feel free to share it if you feel that it will bless someone.

Philippine Air Force Aerospace Museum

Kids love airplanes regardless of their genders. Arriana would often waved goodbye when she see it up in the sky. Every Sunday, we visit Mamun and Tangkad at The Heritage Park. We thought it is nice if the kids can see an actual one (not the usual PAL or Cebu Pacific planes cause they've been on one already) The only place where you can actually see and enter an airplane / helicopter is at the Aerospace Museum.

The Philippine Air Force Aerospace Museum is located at the PAF Headquarters at Villamor Air Base. This one is beside Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. It is formerly named Nichols Field, named after Captain Henry E. Nichols, a US Navy commander who served during the Philippine-American War. Then it was renamed after Jesus Villamor, one of the most prominent pilots in Philippine aviation history who served during World War II fighting the Japanese forces.

Upon entering the indoor museum, big planes will welcome you already. We were asked to pay P20 for JB, myself, Addy (9) and Arriana (2) Amanda is free since she’s an infant. No receipt or ticket but I did not mind. As they say, “Saan makakarating ang bente pesos mo?” This is by far the best P20 expense. The place is air conditioned and well maintained.

The museum is dedicated to the glorious history of the Philippine Air Force. Take note that these are the actual ones and not replicas.

There is a display of miniature airplanes and airport on the second floor, which is a hit with the toddlers. You can also see the antique telephones, cameras, and other stuff used during World War 2. Their different uniforms are showcased as well.

After roaming the indoor museum, you may proceed to the outdoor display of commercial planes, air force planes, and helicopters. It is like an outdoor playground with real planes and helicopters where kids can climb inside and look around. For children, it can be a special treat to be in actual planes and helicopters used in air defense during WWII.

The UH-16 Albatross was designed to take off and land at sea to rescue downed pilots. Its V shaped hull helped the aircraft to land in rough sea conditions. UH-16 Albatross is a utility amphibian plane.  It can take off and land in both land and water.  It's perfect for water rescue operations.

Look how happy we all are while Amanda is sleeping soundly in her stroller.

The Douglas C-47 Transport or also known as the Gooney Bird, is the most famous commercial transport plane in the world. This model was actually one of the first postwar aircraft delivered to the Philippines, from the US, after its use as military aid. It was also used for rain making and rain suppression operations. It served well in the Air Force as a transport aircraft, a fighting aircraft and for weather reconnaisance operations.

Please don’t forget to bring hat, sunglass, sunblock and umbrella! We were there at 2pm and it was very hot! Addy had a class in the morning so the only way to go there on a weekend was after his class.

NAMC YS-11A VIP transport is considered as the Air Force One of the Philippines during the Marcos era. Before you can actually go inside but not anymore. This was used mainly for transporting the President and first family, which means Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos used to get around in it.

The Bell UH-1H Iroquois helicopter, also known as the Huey, was acquired from the US; it was used for front-line casualty evacuation and deployment of troops during the Vietnam War. The first models, as well as updated models, are currently in use by the PAF and the US air force. It is the only helicopter where you can actually go in to check out. The Huey is perfect for troop transport and extraction and casualty evacuation.

Is it obvious that this helicopter is our favorite? Look at Arriana, “feel na feel”

There is a small store where you can buy some snacks and drinks. If you get lucky, the sorbetero cart might be there and you can buy the all-time favorite — dirty ice cream for a minimum of P20. Bring extra shirts because the museum is not air-conditioned, or you can opt to buy a souvenir shirt that they sell there.

Since the museum is near the airport, watch out for the planes flying in and out of NAIA. For a better vantage point, drop by Heritage Memorial Park at around 5pm. You’ll see the airplanes landing one after another.

What to bring:

Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale By Repertory Philippines
Rapunzel poster.jpg

Rapunzel is one of the most popular fairy tales already during my childhood years The story is about a long-haired girl trapped in a tower. Her long blonde hair has magical healing and restoration powers. More recently she had been brought back into the consciousness of the younger generation by animated feature "Tangled" (2010), where Disney put its own spin to the fairy tale. Now, Repertory Philippines offers their own enchanting twist to the story.

Last Sunday, January 23, 2019, We watched Rapunzel: A Very Hairy Fairy Tale By Repertory Philippines at Onstage Cinema, Greenbelt 1, Makati. Me, JB, Arriana and Amanda together with 30 kids from Don Bosco Parish had a grand time. Repertory Philippines (REP) Theater for Young Audiences brings you a fairly tale classic they've never done before.

Rapunzel is a princess who had been locked away by her aunt Lady Zaza in a high tower located at the edge of a deep, dark, dank, dismal, dreary forest since she was a child. A gallant knight Sir Roderick and his best friend, the flashy hair-stylist Edgar (who is on a quest to find the perfect head of hair), embark on a quest to find and rescue Rapunzel and restore the kingdom before Rapunzel turned 18 the next day. With the help of a little bit crazy gypsy woman and Socrates the old and witty dragon who became fireless, Sir Roderick and Edgar rescue Rapunzel on time.

Filled with colorful costumes, fancy hairstyles, and enchanting stage setup, Director Joy Virata truly knows the way to capture the attention of the young ones and even those young at heart. The play is interactive and the casts roam inside the theater gaining utmost audience participation. You can see the thrill and delight in the kids' eyes as they genuinely try to help the characters.

Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale runs from September 15, 2018 to January 27, 2019 at the Onstage Theater, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

We can not wait to watch again the upcoming plays from Repertory Philippines. To know what’s coming this season, check their website at https://repertoryphilippines.ph/2019-season

Christmas At Marriott

Christmas season here in the Philippines starts as early as September. Yes, we are that early and my friends who live abroad are most often than not surprised to see christmas decors around the Metro.

Last November 8, Manila Marriott started its Christmas early with their yearly awaited Christmas Tree Lighting. The not-to-be-missed 20-foot Christmas tree at the hotel lobby is a must-see along with the life-sized ginger bread train of Treats that is ready to whisk you away for a Christmas holiday. Arriana was so happy and excited to see the train!

The tree-lighting ceremony, hosted by Chico Delamar, started the night with a bring me games for the kids and the kid at heart.

Colegio de Sta. Rosa’s Himig Rosena chorale group serenaded the crowd with most-loved Christmas songs.

Santa Claus appeared at the top of the stairs bearing his famous sack of gifts and he led everyone to the function room where it was designed as Santa’s Workplace. Arriana was so happy and excited! Look how beautiful the set up was! My kids had so much fun. Below photos are from Michelle Garcia, Cluster Vice President of Marketing and Communication

Marriott has been known to give back to the community like the Philippine School of the Deaf. The kids from the Philippine School of the Deaf are also there to celebrate.

Addy's Baguio Trip

This was Addy’s first time in Baguio. He went there with my Uncle Allan and Auntie Pet. It was a perfect time for him to explore the province and homeschool at the same time. Since I am not with them during the trip, it was his “field trip”.

As soon as he came home, he had to tell me what happened since day 1. Photos and videos were sent to me by my Uncle.
